Heather & Jonathan's Surprise Anniversary Trip to Spain!!
We absolutely love our customers - especially our repeat customers : ) Heather and Jonathan first booked a surprise honeymoon with us a little over a year ago and now just celebrated their first anniversary with a surprise trip to Spain! We’ve had a great time seeing their pictures and their journey through social media and we wanted to share their amazing trip with all of you as well. In Heather’s own words, here is what they did:
“Roshni and Jeff,
First off, thank you so much for everything. Our trip was absolutely amazing because of you and we have fallen in love with Spain (specifically Barcelona) and cannot wait to get back! I'm going to give you a play by play of our trip and what we loved so you get the whole picture. :)
Sunday- We got in and checked into The Corner Hotel which was a really cool modern spot. They had a bar/coffee area in the lobby where a lot of people were working and hanging out (even people who were not staying at the hotel). There was live music and it was very lively! Our room was very nice, clean and modern. We received a bottle of champagne in our room that night as a Happy Anniversary gift from the hotel. The Corner Hotel was a bit off the beaten path so we did have to walk a lot and Uber to where we wanted to go! It was not a big deal as we ate so much and enjoyed walking, but just something to keep in mind!
Sunday night- We went to the Tapas tour which was amazing!! We had the best time and really got a good feel for the city. Our tour had an eclectic group of people who we actually ended up going to a bar with after. Great people and great fun!
Monday- We went to Montserrat. Our guide was really cute and very informative and we had a really great time hiking to the top of the mountain and overlooking the beautiful scenery. The winery, Oller Del Mas was beautiful and fun! We bought two bottles :)
When we got back from Montserrat we hit up the House of Bones and loved it so much! Gaudi is a genius. We went to dinner at a hotel recommended Paella restaurant. It was wonderful!
Tuesday- We went to Sagrada Familia and were in awe. We legit stayed there for 3+ hours just staring at the inside and the outside. We then hopped on a hop on hop off bus tour and went to Park Guell and saw the entire city. Very fun! That night we went to a restaurant called El Xampanyet which we HIGHLY recommend. It's a little hole in the wall and it was probably our favorite night's dinner. (see the selfie photo with our waitress)
Wednesday- We headed to Madrid (Easy train ride-- We love the trains and wish we had them in the states) and checked into the Hotel Atlantico. We got a very nice room in this hotel as ours was renovated. We got lucky! We loved the room and the hotel was great and very nice! They gave us a complimentary Madrid coffee mug :) We were truly in the center of a very busy street! There were so many commercial shops and things around us.
Madrid just has such a different vibe from Barcelona! We hopped on a hop on hop off bus tour and saw the city stopping at the Prado where we spent several hours looking at art and ate lunch at the Prado Cafe. We went to the Flamenca show and workshop this night! It was so fun! The owner of the Flamenca dance "lounge" is from the UK but has been in Madrid was 20+ years, so that was nice she spoke English. There were 3 of us in the dance class so we really got some good one on one attention and also learned a lot about the history of the dance and how to tap your feet and move your hands. Then we got to have dinner and watch her and her co-workers perform and Jonathan teared up he loved it so much! (Roshni’s note: Heather and Jonathan first met while salsa dancing so we thought this would be really fun!)
Thursday- We did a day trip to Toledo and Segovia and Toledo was a favorite spot for us! The trip was very easy with bus transportation and a tour guide. Toledo is somewhere we would love to go back to and spend a couple of days. It's beautiful and a cozy dreamy small town. Segovia was cool as we saw the aquifer, castle and ate Segovian soups! That night we went to this very nice restaurant and called it a night! We were exhausted! as we were gone from 7AM-7PM on the day tour.
Friday- We woke up late and headed to the cooking class! This class was so awesome. There were 3 couples in the class: us, a French couple, and an Australian couple. We spent hours making a starter salad, Spanish potato omelet, Paella a dessert and Sangria. Our chef was great and we ended up buying all the ingredients and pan to make Paella! After this we went to the El Retiro Park and hung out the rest of the afternoon. It was gorgeous. We went to Mu! this night for dinner and ended up going to a disco called JOY and we felt old haha
Saturday- We were pumped to head back to Barcelona and spend our last night. We cannot talk highly enough about the H10 Casa Mimosa. We legit want to go to a country that offers H10 just to stay at another H10. It was amazing from the customer service to the room to the box of chocolates they brought us for our anniversary. It was amazing. They have a bar in the lobby and we got two drink passes for signing up for their rewards program! It was amazing. After check in we went towards the water and hung out and had lunch. We just kind of chilled this day and it was so nice. We went and got drinks and had dinner. We were so sad to leave Casa Mimosa and Barcelona.
The trip was perfect and we are so thankful for the two of you for planning another unforgettable trip for us! Thank you so much! Spain is a special place and we cannot wait to get back. “ - Heather S.
